Poems from Pupils at Our Ladys Preparatory Selected to Be Published in Reqional ‘My First Poem’ Anthology
May 2009
Pupils, staff and parents from Our Lady’s Preparatory pre-school in
Crowthorne were delighted when fourteen of the children had their poems
selected to be published in the regional ‘My First Poem’ anthology. Pupils had
to complete “Me and My Family Poem” by including details such as the names
of their best friends and their favourite meal. Taking part in the competition
allowed the children to use their imagination, energy and creativity, and
seeing their first poem published will be equally rewarding.
Children: Libby Nemeth, Miles Brooks, Holly Fowler, Charlie Roberts, Sam
Procter, Alex McGarry, Aiden Harvey, Rebecca Stokes, Monica d’Espagnac,
William Forster, Alliaume Chouteau, Henry Billyard and Eowyn Elliott
(all pictured) and Maddy O’Leary were delighted when they were
informed that their poems had been selected for publication.
Miss Philomena Doran, the Early Years Teacher at Our Lady’s said “The
children really enjoyed completing their poems, so to have so many of them
published is hugely rewarding.”
My First Poem, part of Forward Press Ltd run this nation-wide competition
annually, encouraging children to explore their imagination and helps
introduce them to poetry and rhyme.
