PE

Physical Education at Our Lady’s is introduced to the very youngest children in a regular basis in an enjoyable and exciting way.

The importance of exercise and fitness is talked about and encouraged throughout the school and each child is given the opportunity to find some form of physical activity they enjoy.

The older pupils are taught to play small sided games and where possible entered into local events offered to smaller schools; e.g.: The annual small school sports day in the summer term and high five netball rallies.

Each year a Sports Day is held in the Summer Term when parents are invited to spend the day in school watching the pupils take part in various events. The emphasis is on fun and competing for one’s own satisfaction.

PE lessons are popular and all pupils are keen to participate and improve their sporting abilities.

Fitness is encouraged with an emphasis on personal achievement  -  for instance when preparing for the local cross country competition the pupils are given personal targets to work towards.

Agility, mobility and suppleness are developed by the use of gymnastic equipment. Movement to music is covered at some stage in the year and proves popular with many of the children.

Swimming:

There are at least ten swimming sessions each term at Our Lady’s.

Swimming is offered to all the pupils from 3 years of age up in the hope that the early start will produce some excellent results.
