School Day
The standard school day is from 8.45am until 3.45pm although children can join the ‘before school’ club from 8.00am and stay in school until 6.00pm doing a range of activities dependant on their age and the weather.
A holiday club is offered out of term time from 8.00am until 6.00pm where the children have the opportunity to play sport, participate in various art and craft activities, play musical instruments, put on shows, dress up, make cakes & biscuits and more.
Meals are produced by our school chef who prepares hot food every morning using fresh, locally sought produce. The staff at Our Lady’s understand the importance of diet on children’s learning and make every effort to ensure each child eats a well balanced meal and has an understanding of what they are eating and where it comes from. Our Lady’s has joined the National Food Partnership, we are actively increasing our use of organic meat and vegetables and are growing our own vegetables in the school garden.
Once a week there is a school assembly which each class takes in turn to host, parents of these classes are invited to attend. Once a month our local Catholic Priest attends assembly to celebrate mass. Assemblies are also used to recognise birthdays and specific individual or group successes.
From nursery age, children are placed in one of three houses and earn points for academic success, demonstrating good behaviour and manners. This encourages cross year team work and pursuing common goals.
