Pre-Prep (Infants) Curriculum
In the Pre-Prep we build on the skills children began to develop in reception. Our Lady’s Preparatory School follows the National Curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science and selects parts of the Foundation subjects.
We actively encourage a love of books, reading and listening, fiction and non fiction. Children begin to write, learning how to put their ideas to paper. They also develop speaking and listening skills, presenting to class groups, hosting assembly, performing in drama.
Children improve their recognition of numbers, their ability to order them, do simple addition and subtraction.
Using every day objects from the classroom and the gardens children carry out simple science experiments. They learn about the world around them, chat to children in other countries across the internet, grow plants in the garden, discover the elements.
Across the subjects we introduce basic IT skills, keyboard and mouse proficiency and using the internet.
Art & Sport
Each child is encouraged to express themselves in artwork, music, drama and sport.
There is increased emphasis on independent learning, working on tasks on their own as well as within a group and general increased levels of concentration.
